We have reputation for excellence and a membership of around 170 young people.

Our Groups are organised in a 'pyramid' allowing progression to a higher level of performance as the musician improves their skill. The conductors will decide which group will benefit your child the most at their stage of musical development.
Playing or singing together is a great social and educational activity; members are friendly, enthusiastic and committed.
The Ensembles are run by Hampshire Music Service who charge a fee per term for membership.
In the Year 2022-23 , the fee for Area Ensemble membership is £35 per term and for County Ensemble Membership is £45 per term.
If your child belongs to more than one ensemble you will only pay one fee. If your child is in a county and an area ensemble you will only pay the £45 County Ensemble fee.
There is also a one time payment of £15to join the Uniform Hire Scheme, which can be waived in case of hardship.
We have our own charity that supports the provision of Youth Music in the wider Basingstoke Area.
Hampshire Music Service co-ordinates bands, ensembles, orchestras and choirs for children and young people, all over Hampshire. The service organises some 400 performances every year, which can range from small gatherings of musicians and their families, to large events in public venues such as Winchester Cathedral, The Anvil and even The Royal Albert Hall. The service also supports schools to provide quality music tuition and affordable instrument hire to pupils.
